RAN Specialist Job Description
Definition:
A RAN Specialist (also known as a RAN Engineer) is a telecommunications professional who specializes in designing, implementing, and maintaining the radio access network of a mobile telecommunications system. The RAN is the portion of the network that connects mobile devices (such as smartphones) to the rest of the network, enabling wireless communication between devices and the network infrastructure12.
Key Responsibilities:
- Network Planning and Design:
- Collaborate with network architects and planners to design RAN infrastructure.
- Determine optimal cell site locations, antenna configurations, and frequency allocations.
- Plan coverage areas and capacity requirements.
- Network Optimization:
- Continuously monitor and optimize RAN performance.
- Conduct drive tests and analyze network KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).
- Troubleshoot and resolve coverage gaps, interference, and capacity issues.
- Deployment and Integration:
